What does it mean if I missed a shift and work says I'm being documented?

I missed a shift (mcdonalds) because I thought it was the next day, the manager called me and I told them this, plus I have an exam the next day so I don't want to come in to do a late shift.
She told me I'm going to be documented for this, what does this mean?
