I have just built a new computer using an asus z87-pro motherboard, i have wired everything in and everything seems to be running fine( haven't connected it up to the monitor though) but on the small little LED pannel it says A2 which means IDE detect. Can anyone tell me what this means and how to resolve it?
What does IDE detect mean?

I've noticed that the Boot_device LED is shinning when the counter says A2.

I have yet to experience this A2 IDE detect problem, but it usually indicates that a component such as RAM is not seated properly, the hard drive connected into the wrong port.
The best thing first to do is to remove/disconnect components, then checking against the handbook, rebuild to make the simples configuration that enables a boot-up. If successful add another check boot and so on and so on!
It may be as simple as plugging the HDD Sata cable into the wrong port for the OS drive (hence check the manual!)
Hope this works for you.
The MB's manual, the A2 "IDE Detect" error code means it's having trouble detecting or reading connected drives. This often occurs during initial boot of a new build if multiple drives are hooked up before an OS is installed. It could also mean it could be a faulty sata cable
Thank you.
