Beth means that she now understands that Dawn is much more concerned about her ego and power than she is about people. Noah is someone that Dawn is able to boss around and beat up whenever Dawn feels frustrated. Dawn is narcissistic, but does a good job of pretending she isn't sometimes.
These are my thoughts on this, because I was wondering the same thing too. Earlier in the episode when Beth and Dawn are in the room with Carol, Beth says "I get it now, everyone uses everyone to get what they want in here." Dawn also talks about how Noah would come back. Well before she stabs Dawn she says "I get it now" again because she realizes that she was right. Dawn used Beth and Carol in the exchange to get Noah back. It wasn't about Dawn protecting Beth or anything, Dawn wanted Beth on her side so she could later on use to to get what she wanted, because that's exactly what Dawn does. She always has to have someone around that will benefit her somehow. She knew she was losing Beth so that's why she wanted Noah in return. Dawn always wants control, and always wants someone she could use for her own benefit. Everyone uses everyone in the hospital, and Dawn just uses anyone she could get. That's why Beth stabbed her because she finally knew that she was only a pawn to Dawn, so that Dawn could use her to get what she wanted. I'm not sure if I'm right or wrong on this, but i hope it makes sense!
Maybe you mean that since Dawn suspected that Beth knew Carol, Dawn knew that Beth's friends were coming.
The way I thought of it was that she had to have someone that she could use to her benefit. At first she had Noah, then Noah and Beth. When Noah escaped she then had Beth. During the trade i feel as though she saw that as an opportunity to get Noah back. As long as she had someone to use.
Totally agree with that.
But how did Dawn know that she would have a chance to exchange Beth and Carol for Noah when Dawn was being nice to Beth? It wasn't until Rick met with the two officers and told them that he had hostages that Dawn knew where Noah was. Are you implying that Dawn knew she would eventually get a chance to get Noah back because Noah was too loyal to leave Beth back at the hospital?
