... and not giving you the chance to become yourself?

Uggh! Don't you watch movies? Find your courage and tell ur dad! You don't need to throw away what you want for him!!! If you want you can talk to ur mum and she can maybe give you suggestions on telling ur dad. If you want, you can wait until you r a bit older. C'mon dude!!!
Pretty much what scribbler said. The only person who's opinion you should care about is your own. What you think of yourself is the most important thing, and what you want for yourself may not be what your father wants for you, but your father will respect that you have your own dreams and goals in life.
That does not mean that you should forsake your fathers advice and wisdom or his experiences, but apply the good lessons when you need them and be certain to do things your own way, you are your own person after all.
Tell your dad that you have your own feelings and you would like to be someone else. Tell him that you don't want to be miserable in the future because not being yourself would really cause mental problems a-raise in the future. And if that happens, you are more prone to suicide. Then tell him that you have your own right to live what you want and live however you want. Hope this helps
