I have no real work history and no reliable transportation (no car). There are careers that I want to pursue in life but if I cannot get a job those careers would be impossible to pursue.
I even tried going through an agency that is good at helping people get jobs but they told me they could not help because they've got more people trying to look for work than there are jobs available. I feel like I've been defeated before I could get my life started.
What do you do when you can't get a job?

I understand how difficult it is when the economy is like it is now. I've been in the situation where I couldn't find work and I didn't have a lot of experience to draw on. It just felt like every direction I looked in was a dead end.
What I decided in the end was that there were still some jobs out there but that my scope was too narrow, considering how things were financially. I had to be prepared to do things I hadn't previously considered, like choosing a job as a temporary thing (as opposed to a career), taking work outside what I'd normally have considered, and also being prepared to move to find work in other towns/cities. In the end, I did the first one. I took a one year post doing something I wasn't sure I wanted to do. Over the next few years, they saw where my skills lay and my job was slowly repositioned to be more of what I'm good at. The important thing was getting my foot in the door.
I know what you mean. But these days it's difficult to get a job flipping burgers at a fast food restaurant. I know that's a sign that I should move but I'm kind of stuck where I'm at right now. I can't just move.
