I am taking a religion class and I need the opinion of a non-christian. The questions are What is your religion and Why do you not accept Christianity?

To answer the first part of this question, I don't know if there is a God or not. I am not to sure what religious denomination I would be considered but if you know or at least have a good idea, then feel free to put it in your paper or what not. My problem is not only Christianity but the majority of organized religion. Im sure that in the beginning it was all started with the best of intentions but like most things, over time, it has evolved. Today religion has become just another outlet for organizations to push an agenda onto it's followers. In general people attend religious service to have the bible or which ever book their religion goes by, translated to them by a Priest or what have you. This person is trained and has studied the book and practices of their chosen faith. They translate the text in these books as a service to those who cannot or choose not to draw their own opinions on what the meaning of the text is. And because such a high percentage of people just take whatever translation that is made as truth, they are easily manipulated. To give an example that I have first hand knowledge of, while I was in Afghanistan we saw how the religion was used as a way to spread anti US forces propaganda and push the agenda of the Taliban. Muslims are known for having unwavering faith in Islam and to them what the Mullah says is undoubtedly the word of god. But because of their lack of education in addition to being so faithful, all the Taliban has to do is lean on the Mullah a little and now they are being given a translation that is maybe only slightly altered or at times a complete lie. This in my opinion happens in just about every form of religion and is the main reason for my choice to not be apart of it. If there is a God, this is nothing like what he had intended. I saw the corruption in mass organized religion and If Gods real, he sees it too.

i do not believe in a religion. i believe that all religion is a poison to the human race that will ultimately destroy us. religion is totalitarian in its ideas. it claims to know things it can not know and it claims to have powers it can not have. we are forced to love someone we are afraid of at the same time, like a slave/master relationship. it is simply illogical, and quite frankly, stupid and unhealthy to believe.
To believe something makes one blind to seeing evidence to the contrary. For this reason, I choose not to believe. I do have thoughts, which I recognize may be correct or incorrect. I think that there's a creator, it created everything that is from itself, and so there's nothing that isn't itself. I see each of us as a character that the creator is playing.
As for Christianity, what a horrible religion, and a horrible bunch of people. With a history of slaughtering countless people who wouldn't convert (e.g. North, Central and South America, and the Crusades), and a current state of hypocrites using bits and pieces of it to justify their bad nature (e.g. bigots hiding behind the cross to hate gays). God damn Christianity.
well there is some different religons just like Christianity like judism or islam I am a christen my self so I don't care if your atheist or if you belive in Hinduism and I don't hate gays at all its a sin to treat anyone like there crap just beacouls of who they like boys girls who cares I don't hate gays who ever christen does is not a realy good one so apologies about what ever christen treats gays difrint becouls of who they are
Many years ago I wanted to belong to a religion. I therefore went to Judaism but I still felt empty. The reason that I felt that way was because their was a lot of tradition and only in the Hebrew Scriptures and I wondered what about the Greek Scriptures.
Then I want to Protestant Church. Now these churches seemed to be on the right tract
But then they taught me about a prayer and it was called the lords prayer. I thought it was a nice prayer.
Then I wanted to know about the prayer. They told me that we can find in Matt 6:9,10
When looked it up then I asked someone what does it mean when it says our father in the havens hallow be thy name. So I asked what did hallow mean? They said to make it known. So I had to ask. What was his name? They told me his name was GOD
So that I could deal with until I learned that the word God is a title and I wanted to know what is the kingdom? They told me its in my heart. After thinking about that I said that made no sense to either.
Then I happened to over hear someone talking about the same thing that I wanted to find out. They showed me God name in Psalm 83:18 then they told me to go jw.org

I am a Christian, and I know that any true Christians would NEVER slaughter someone because they didn't convert. Anyone has a chance to choose weather to live eternally in heaven with Jesus or not.
