Found an old pendant with a woman's head on,
The name Helene was on it round one side and the
letters MDLLXXX round the other.
What do the letters MDLLXXX together Stand for?

Have tried using Roman numerals but it doesn't
work out has me baffled have searched online and
there is reference to letters in an article in papers past
but doesn't tell you what they stand for.
