When I plug it into the USB port it's not even registering with the computer. I don't know what else to do. There's nothing in the booklet about this at all.

If your' computer will not recognize your' phone the first thing you should do is go to Motorola's website and download the software for your' phone. Motorola's "Droid" line was specifically designed to use the "MotoSync" feature that allows simplest access to the phone through your' micro USB cable. Also equally important is that you go into your' phone's settings and make sure that you have enabled "USB Debugging" if this option is not selected your' phone will not allow the computer to recognize the phone.
