I am a high school sophomore and want to become an ornithologist. I'm trying to make a plan. I know a biology or zoology degree is a good start, but what next? How do I specialize in birds? Are there college classes for avian sciences? If so, how can I find the colleges that do even if the class is not listed their website?

Glad to know that you want to be an ornithologist. First of all it is not necessary to obtain biology or zoology degree for reaching the goal as ornithologist. The most important thing in this discipline is to be sincere and keep integrity in works. The basic knowledge about birds, their evolution, morphology is important to know. For such through research or literature review is necessary. If you have chance to get admit in any zoology course then it will be more fruitful. Keep the hope. Best of luck
