The only thing the census is supposed to reveal is the number of adults in the country. Anything else is a political inquisition. For example, the census figures of 1930 and 1940 were used to get addresses of Japanese descendants so they could be locked up. The government would not even issue an apology until nearly all the victims of that scam had died.
