Hello my name is Sarine and i want to ask you about my informative speech. My topic is about vegetarians and i can't seem to narrow it down to a specific topic concerning them. i tend to include many details that could seem as a persuasive topic. talking about the types of vegetarians is kind of lame and most people nowadays know the types. what could my purpose in my informative speech be without me being persuasive?

Nearly everything can be viewed by someone as being pesuasive. I think you ought to stop worrying about that aspect.
How about giving your perspective on becoming a vegetarian. No information on looking into the big soulful cow eyes and promising not to eat them.
Focus on what you learned about how you could eat healthy and what foods give you the required nutrition from the food groups. What are the food groups make something to show them or print something and pass it around for a visual. Where the chart shows meat you replace it with what gives you protein.
Talk about your journey and how it has benefitted your health. Talk about food preparation for something. Surely you've had to learn to cook to become a vegetarian.
Talk about what positive things its done for your health, blood pressure, hair, weight whatever way it has helped you.
It's all informational.
I think you are being too philosophical, and worrying because someone else might disagree with your philosophy. Just stop it. You do a speech because you want to convey information and/or you want to dazzle people with your voice. Judgments such as "persuasive" or "informative" are rendered after the fact and may or may not relate to your reason for doing the speech.
There are only two things you need to be an effective public speaker: something to say, and a burning desire to say it.
waw that was so helpful thank you so much!!
