I would go out to say that he felt as though since he could not win her heart that if she was no longer beautiful that she would be shunned by men and would have to be with him. Hope that helps as a possible theory.
i think the feeling of rejection and disappointment and hurt rolled into one push that boy to his limit and make him out of control but i am not saying that its right to do that its just the possible reason i am stating
