What can my story be about?

Firstly, decide what type of story you want to write. There are a lot of different genres you can chose from, but these are some of the most popular genres to get you started:
·Adventure
·Romance
·Horror
Then, you need to chose a setting - for example, if want to write a horror story, maybe you could chose somewhere kind of normal for the story to take place, and then spook it up a little by adding scary descriptions. So if you were writing about a door, prehaps you could write "a creaking, dusty-looking door" instead of just writing "a door". Also, remember to use lots of similes or comparisons (as cold as ice, screams ripping through the air like daggers) to make your story effective.
Lastly, it's time to create your characters. Try to think of realistic characters that people can relate to - don't give your characters too many strengths, trust me, people find this EXTREMELY annoying.
