Okay I know this is really bad and I should have just been honest to begin with. Please don't tell me just be honest and tell her the truth because that is NOT an option for me right now. I attended college in 2010 but I took off last year due to some circumstances I wish to keep private. I couldn't tell my parents that I was taking off because they would freak out and literally my life would pretty much be over at that point. So I unfortunately lied and told them I was attending school (2011). Now my mom is filing her taxes and she is asking for my 1098 t form which I obviously do not have since I never attended last year. I have no idea what to tell her. Is there any excuse or in general ANYTHING I can tell her as to why I don't have a 1098 t form? I know seriously this is bad but if you were in my shoes you would know why I did what I did. I was thinking to tell her my school just didn't have one for me this year because for whatever reason i didn't meet the criteria or something. I don't know who is helping her prepare her taxes but apparently they told her it's on hold because they have not received the 1098 t form. Will she have to tell them in detail why I don't have it or can she just say I don't have it and just move on. By the way I live in Maryland and attended UMBC.

Thanks for the comment. Funny thing actually because I actually did tell her that earlier today but I really just decided to come clean with her because I really don't want anything looming over my head anymore and after she's going to find out anyway. Surprisingly she didn't take it so badly so I'm happy now :)
Yea see that's a really bad situation According too ACS who is the website behind the 1098 T form you should be able too get a copy of your 1098 T form from last year.
By the way are you signed out of school or are you just bedridden? because if you are signed out, then your mom already knows you don't get a 1098 T form unless you still attending school.
Tuff spot good luck,
