I recently got a transfer option to an HR department and it got rescinded AFTER all paperwork was signed because someone at work found a bed bug on their desk and I reported the problem to the office manager. Is that fair? They said that it was because I “panicked” and everyone In HR must always be calm. I won’t lie, I did get a little worried but my reaction was nothing compared to many others. Everyone started to panic so I thought calling the office manager would be my best option since I was the only supervisor on the floor. Manager and director were both not around. Also, what can be done about the ignored bed bug issue?

Who actually identified a bed bug? How do you know they know what they are talking about? Did you see it, catch it for identification? Did you look up online the actual size of a bedbug? I just did and it would have to be a finely tuned eye to say thats what you saw. Did you call any pest control places to ask about cost for debugging? Did you call building maintenance to ask them what they could do about the problem or could they come check.
Seems to me that its likely it wasnt a bed bug or if it was it hitched a ride from someones home and doesnt mean there is an infestation of them.
You listened to office gossip and didnt handle the situation calmly.
