I need to know just how likely it is that a healthy, UK citizen with no family history of kidney problems will require a kidney transplant during their lifetime. E.g. 50/50 chance, 20 per cent chance, 1 in a 1,000,000 etc. I really need this info, and can't find it anywhere - I know that it's not very likely, but need to know more.......This info. could help me get a transplant - I have been waiting for a long, long time. I know people who have said they would donate a kidney, but they're worried one of their children may need a transplant in the future, and I want to know if this is a realistic concern. Meanwhile, I am a single parent, with a child who desperately needs his mummy to get healthy. I'd really appreciate any relevant info. - thanks.
What are the odds of a healthy person in UK needing a kidney transplant at some point?

Thanks for the reply, but 20 per cent seems awfully high to me - it would mean that 1 in 5 people will require a transplant, and that just seems unlikely to me. Just the fact that - prior to my own kidneys failing - I had not met anyone in my entire life who had needed or had a transplant makes me think that.

mabe 20 percent this would be for about any healthy person probably 50/50 for someone who already has problems with their kidneys their rate would be more if you are really healthy then it would be rare to have those problems that would make you need one so i think unless your having problems with your kidneys your pretty much okay
