I got a job in a cafe and they suggested non slip shoes but I cannot afford to buy any before my first shift. Any regular shoes that I may have in my closet would do, but I want to know if anyone has used other shoes in place of non slip

Soft sole shoes. Test your soft sole shoes on grease soapy floors try use the ones that slip or slide the least. . But must be enclose shoes. Black ones if you got good black soft sole sneakers or running shoes. Just might get you by until can buy the right ones your employer requires you to wear. That what I did. But that was long time ago.
While many people mistakenly believe that a straightforward pair of rubber-soled sneakers are non-slip footwear, there are certain features that distinguish true "non-slip" footwear. The most notable of them is a sole constructed of softer rubber that is intended to provide increased floor traction when in contact with dampness, grease, or oil. This distinction is crucial because the majority of tennis or basketball shoes have rubber soles designed to provide traction on dry surfaces rather than wet ones.
Non-slip shoes feature an open tread pattern that improves grip by draining moisture from under your shoe in addition to a softer rubber sole. While the closed tread pattern common to many tennis and basketball shoes aids in lateral traction, it can also trap moisture beneath the shoe, creating a barrier between your shoe and the floor that can lead to slips, much like a hydroplaning car.
Lastly, because many non-slip shoes are designed specifically for work environments, they provide greater comfort and shock absorption when you're standing for extended periods of time. They also have moisture-resistant properties to keep your feet dry in wet work environments.
If you don't own non-slip shoes, here are some options:
Add traction pads or grip-enhancing accessories to your current shoes.
Use traction spray on the soles of your shoes.
Try DIY solutions like roughening the soles or applying hot glue in a zigzag pattern.
Look for shoes with rubber soles and deep treads for better natural traction.
Consider using shoe grip pads or ice cleats for slippery surfaces.
However, investing in a pair of purpose-built non-slip shoes is the best long-term solution for optimal safety.
If you don't own non-slip shoes, your best bet is to choose shoes with a sturdy and textured sole for better traction. Look for shoes with rubber or synthetic soles that have grooves or patterns designed to provide grip on various surfaces. Additionally, opting for shoes with a low heel and secure fit can help prevent slips and falls. Sneakers or athletic shoes with a good grip are often a safe choice for most situations.
