I have never read Gothic, but my guess would not to make it to gloomy, like describing a creepy house- horror would be like, 'The dark room was covered in cobwebs, there was a slight breeze coming from the window. Whomever lived here once was long gone for there was a layer of dust covering the ground'. I have not read much Gothic but I would guess like (and if I am wrong please don't be offended, I am a very depressing dark minded person so...) 'The house had a dark shadow through it, the darkened windows had hole in them letting in the cold breeze. The house was abandoned and left to all the ghosts, or rodents to take over.'- never mind that, but the horror is more hyper and creepy, while Gothic is a bit more gloomy and such.
