What are infectious diseases and non infectious diseases?

Here is the best way I know to break them down to an easy understandable way, but don't quote them from me.

Infectious disease: It's like a virus and can spread to people who are surrounded by that person in many ways like drinking from the same cup or sharing food. Maybe even coughing or sneezing near other people. Kind of like a small plague.

Non infectious disease: It's a genetic disease or something you can't spread like cancer or diabetes.

Think of it like contagious or not contagious.
