A criminal record check with the RCMP can show both convictions for criminal offence, and non-convictions for criminal offences for which you have been charged. For example, if you were charged with an offence but the charge was withdrawn, it can show up on a criminal record check. Local police agencies will have their own police information checks that you can also request to have completed. If you had a criminal charge withdrawn, you can apply to the local police agency to have this record destroyed. To get the non-conviction record from the RCMP destroyed you have to request your local police agency that they make a request to the RCMP to destroy non-conviction records. The RCMP will not accept any applications from individuals directly applying to have non-conviction records destroyed.
