...a one story family room with a bonus room upstairs.
The model home we walked through has a two story and it looks grand and really beautiful, but I've heard they can be difficult to heat/cool and noise can echo.
What are pros/cons of each and which would you prefer?
Heat rises. Your heating bill will be higher also.
The bonus room upstairs is great to give kids a place to string out their toys and keep the family room neat.
Hubby can watch a game or play cards with friends in one place wile you have book club in the other or watch tv or read a book or do yoga.
The kids have a dedicated study space especially if you install table tops that can be raised or lowered. IKEA has them by the way.
Hang an extra large mirror in the family room to reflect light and give the illusion of space.
