We get a new and full moon every month. Why don't we get two eclipses every month?

If the moon's orbit was parallel to the Earth's orbit there would be a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse every time around. The moon goes 20,000 miles above and below the Earth's orbit, so it does not pass through either position very often.
