Was touching a woman in the great depression illegal?

I think yes and no. Ithink on the street a woman could legally cause a problem because unless an arm was offered to escort her for some reason or you shook her hand there was no touching and very poor manners. In the work place I think women wete taken advantage of and no one cared. Which is why men have always gotten away with it and women couldn't say anything.
