There are so many beautiful places on earth, but there has been so much abuse of the land in so many place. Could the earth ever recover from the damage done, and if left alone would it become like a paradise?

Paradise is a Greek word meaning a garden. That meant a place with flowing water and a wall around it. Republic of Seychelles, a group of islands northeast of Zanzibar, is considered a modern "paradise".
The biblical description of paradise was roughly 1500 miles east-west and 2500 miles north-south and many of the details mentioned are still in existence.
The Bible mentions a garden in Eden, towards the east. Genesis 2:8-15 gives an avid description of the garden and its location. That paradise was lost because of our first human parents. God, who created the original paradise, has promised to restore it. Revelation 11:18 says that God will " bring to ruin those ruining the earth."
The earth will be restored to its original state and God's original purpose for humans will be realized. Psalms 37:29 says: The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it.
While your question is very cute, it probably would become more like a jungle or wasteland than a paradise if left alone. But surely there would be beautiful places on earth, in fact, there are beautiful paradise places on earth right now, the question is just where to find them. Everyone has their own definition of paradise :)
Our ancestors (Adam and Eve) once lived in Paradise. The Bible tells us: “Jehovah God planted a garden in Eden, toward the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. . Originally, only the garden of Eden was a paradise. The book of Genesis tells us that when God created the first humans—Adam and Eve—he placed them in a well-watered garden called the Garden of Eden. They had perfect health and the prospect of everlasting life. The result would be a global paradise filled with perfect humans in joyful subjection to God, their Ruler. Adam and Eve disobeyed God, so Jehovah put them out of the garden. Paradise was lost, and no man has succeeded in restoring it. The Bible says: “The earth has been handed over to the wicked.”—Job 9:24.—Read Genesis 3:23, 24.
You will agree that a true paradise can only come on earth when all present-day troubles are gone. Human efforts to remove them have so far failed, as history adequately testifies.
God has not forgotten his original purpose for mankind, nor can God ever fail. (Isaiah 45:18) He will restore the human race to the way he meant it to be.—Read Psalm 37:11.

If you believe God is the Creator not evolution you will understand that the Bible's answer makes more sense. The planet’s coming into existence is recounted in the Bible with the simple statement: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and desolate, and there was darkness upon the surface of the watery deep, and God’s active force was moving about over the surface of the waters. Please read Genesis 1: 1-7. The question is can mankind create a lasting paradise hear on earth? Even the islands’ very desirability as havens for paradise seekers poses a threat.
