Ok so my girlfriend is in a bit of worry at the moment, apparently her tutor changed the deadline for an assignment from sometime mid February to 9th February, but she wasn't at the class where the change was made and her fellow students failed to inform her so she only found out today. Are tutors allowed to reduce deadlines and is the tutor legally meant to inform every student herself? Also im under the impression she can still hand it in up to a week late just with a 10% penalty and a pass mark cap? Thankyou so much in advance!!!

Don't know the school and don't know their tutoring rules.
Seems to me that instead of waiting for us to guess without adequate info that you'd go directly to the source and walk up to the teacher before or after class and simply ask when is the project due date or make an appt for next day or email or text the teacher or the teacher's assistant or look at assignment page where teacher lists things like that or most do.
Waiting so long to do a project and willing to lose points and settle for a lesser grade and turn it in late is an I don't care attitude and not the go getter attitude of someone who wants to finish on top just someone who doesnt care if they get a junk score as long as it passes. She didn't even ask the question herself. That's sad.
I think you've misinterpreted. Her assignment was due I think 18th February and they changed the due date to the 9th on a day she wasn't in class due to illness, the teacher of the class told the other students to let her know and no-one told her until today. I forgot to mention she changed the due date like 2 weeks ago. So when she came to start it today thinking she had just under 2 weeks, she has less than 2 days... And I'm asking the question because she's too busy freaking out and crying in her dorm =/
