My mum accidentally burned the tip of her finger (the side with flesh) , she has a small blister which in less than/about 1 cm in its width (it is a small oval) . I believe this is a second degree burn, and after doing some research I was a little paranoid. I keep telling her that she must see a doctor as soon as possible but due to the location where we stay an appropriate doctor is most likely nowhere near. I was outside when she got burned and when i met her a few hours later she said she still feel a mild, occasional/intermittent pain on her finger. She said when she got burned she quickly put her finger under running cold water, unfortunately later she made the mistake of further cooling it down with an ice pack. I read on the internet that she should get her finger covered with something like a gauze, she should also apply antibacterial cream. If she must see a doctor, what kind of a doctor should she visit? Also, so far only a blister appeared, will more stuffs come up in the future? Anything else that I should be worried/take note about? Any form of treatment that can be done at home? I think I am more scared than my mum!

You are right with the antibacterial cream & gauze. This will keep the burn moist, away from infection & protect the blister while it grows new tissue under it.You are also right about getting medical attention. Your GP, practice nurse or go to your hospital s A&E. You will get it checked for depth of burn, posible damage, .how & when to put new dressings on & how long it should take to heal.
How do I know, picked up ( & quickly dropped!) a metal pan handle that was over a burner on low heat of the cooker.
Tell your Mum thar the nurse I saw the next day about my burn, told me off for not going in immediately!
