when i have shoulder days, im seeing big gains in my traps, but only seing small gains in my delts. they are getting cut, but not gaining mass, even when doing isolated movements. is this just how the body is built? or am i just not doing something right?

It could just be your genetics. But, if you're training your traps differently than your delts, maybe try training your delts with the same intensity(assuming you're training your traps heavier and harder). If it was me, I would train my delts an extra day each week and focus on increasing the weight I am lifting with my delts. I would do that for a couple of months and see how I look in the mirror. I've been doing that for years whenever I feel like I have a lagging body part. Also start hitting your delts at different angle if you aren't already. There are your front delts, side delts and rear delts that all can be trained.
I'm just one mans opinion though. I hope this helps you out.
