To be on the fence/to sit on the fence?

Hi, are these sentences correct? And is there any difference between 'to be on the fence' and 'to sit on the fence'?

I am always on the fence when it comes to choosing something.
I always sit on the fence when it comes to choosing something.

They are both correct, except that people almost never say "I sit on the fence" or "sitting on the fence".

A rarely heard word is mugwump. That is a person with his mug on one side of the fence and his wump (rump) on the other side.
