If someone threatens to destroy your personal property that you pay for every month, in my case my phone.... If they were to actually do it, could I get them into trouble with the law?

Yes any damage to your items is a illegal act. Regardless if its a contract phone or a brick wall on your land.
If damage is occured to anything owned by you, report to the local police unit. You have to prove it was them. So texts or emails stating they are going to damage your phone will help.
