So I decided to take a typing class, and I have to type the proper way. Normally I type with proper posture and I do leave my fingers on home row, but when I actually start typing my fingers are kind of just everywhere, and I don't designate a certain finger to certain keys. With the way I type I can type an average around 110-125wpm. When I try to type properly, I'm throwing away what I learned and typing slower, at about 35-45 wpm. In the long run if I actually re-learn typing to type properly will I type faster than I currently am? I've always typed the way I do and I have been getting faster at it as I'm growing up. I"m worried relearning will make me slower in the long run or so, I'm not sure.

No. I can't believe you type 125 but whatever. Even if you average 65-70 I would say leave things as they are. I took a typing class to fill up some time and the teacher walked around and checked out everyone and informed me that I was hitting the C key with the wrong finger but since I was doing 65 don't try to re-learn with the right finger or I'd lose my speed. If you are at the 100 wpm range, leave things alone.
If you are at the 40 wpm range then learn the correct way. Sloppy keyboarding isnt right. Form counts.
