i can usually only go every 3 or 4 days. when i do go they are large and they take a long time. what can i do to make sure i go more often and that it doesnt take forever? like what kinds of food, activities, that sort of thing. any help is appreciated.

It sounds like there isn't enough fibre in your diet. Fibre not only smoothes digestive transit (the speed things go through you) but soaks up some of the bad things in food and keeps you clean internally.
Stuff like bran, peas, beans, berries, baked potatoes, wholemeal bread, vegetables are good to eat. Avoid meat, eggs, dairy products.
