I saw The Hunger Games movie, and I decided that I'll read the books. I'm about to begin reading the first book. But now the second movie, Catching fire is in theatres. Can I watch Catching fire and then read it, or is it bad alredy that I didn't start with the books, and I should wait with the movies until I've read the books?

I think you should read the book first, I watched the movies first then read the book and all I could see in my mind while reading where the images that the movie had made about it. It didn't give me a chance to think up the hunger games world
and the characters using my own imagination which is half the fun of reading.
I have never seen nor read the Hunger Games series. However, I recommend reading the book before watching the movies because no movie is like the book. Sure it may have similarities but it will add stuff that was never in the book to begin with, and cut some out. Most things they cut out weren't crucial to the book, but entertaining nonetheless.
Sometimes a movie doesn't explain something as thoroughly as a book would, (such as in the Twilight movies, we never learned why the Cullen's eyes were amber or black and other vampires eyes were red. However in the book it explains it). If you don't wish to be confused in some parts of the movie, then read the book first.
It depends on you where you will feel comfortable or able to enjoy the story. i will suggest you watch direct the movie so it will be excitement and eagerness to know what will happen next. Like I was also thinking to read books and even i stst search online movie books, so reach at infibeam.com bookstore where that book was available, but then i feel to first watch the movie for more excitement.
