Draw a horizontal line out from the 90 ft tower, then another from the same point another at 3 degrees down from the horizontal. From the point it meets the ground, strike a vertical line & that will complete a right angled triangle for you.
As you know the O, the opposite side length = 90'
The angle = 3 degrees
You need to find the ajacent length A
As O/A= tan then divide both sides by Tan, then multiply both by A gives you .
O/Tan=A

It is always a good idea to draw out a small diagram, does not have to be to scale (can help as a rough check on your answers). The actual process of drawing helps you understand the question & can be considered part of your working to those marking it.
