I got pulled over by an officer for headlights (I know, I'm stupid). When he asked for insurance I played it off that I wasn't sure where it was and that it was my parents car. He only gave me a ticket saying that I needed to show proof of insurance in court in a month. It only dawned upon me a couple days later that I lied to an officer. I also learned that the penalties for driving without insurance are pretty bad. I'm now stressed and scared. I was just wondering what will happen to me and what can I before the trial that might help my case?
Stressing?

I agree, I do deserve the 500$ ticket and the suspension of my license, but man do I wish on grace. Thank you so much for answering and for mitigating my headache. @Mircat

Your parents let you drive with no insurance!? Are they nuts?
You have a drivers license and managed to be that stupid you didn't know insurance is required?
Frankly you deserve a huge ticket.
Go buy insurance and take proof to court. Tell the judge you thought your parents had gotten insurance and when you asked they said no so you got it and here is your proof. That is about as close to the truth as you are going to get.
