About a month ago a stranger venmo’d me a large amount of money. I message him saying”you sent this to the wrong person”. He didn’t respond to me. He just sent me another big some of money and a few hours later, he sent me a payment request of the sum of both payments and it said “mistaken payment. Please send back. It’s being disputed through Venmo”. he later cancelled the payment request. I have no intention on keeping the money I just don’t want to get screwed. The money is still sitting in my Venmo app. I’ve read instances online saying people sent the money back and then when there was a chargeback and they got stuck paying again even tho they transferred the money back. So should I transfer the money back or just let the dispute handle it???
