Stopped in a disabled bay for less than 30 seconds to make a delivery. Threatened to be reported?

Hi all,

I am an amazon delivery driver suffering from neuropathic pain. I had a large parcel to deliver today on a residential street. There was no nearby parking, and the only place I could fit and stop was a disabled bay. I stopped and quickly went to deliver my parcel. Left the car for 30 secs before another car came to park there. I immediately went back and apologized to the rightful 'parker' but she gave me abuse and said she was going to report me to the police.
Few extra details:
My car wasn't fully in the bay.
My hazard lights were on.
I didn't deliver the parcel in the end as there was no where else for me to stop.
I couldn't carry the parcel for a long distance due to my pain which is why I couldn't park 100m further up the road.

Will i be prosecuted?

Were the police called? If not then obviously you won&rsquo;t be given a summons to appear before a judge or a ticket for a moving violation. Which means that you will not be prosecuted for anything by the criminal justice system. That being said you could be reported to Amazon and reprimanded by them, which could result in you loosing your job.

If you have a physical problem that gives you the right to park in a designated handicapped slot then you simply go to your doctor and ask to give you a signed form to take to DMV and get a blue handicapped placard to hang off your rear view mirror when you park there.  Its very simple.  Otherwise double park behind the parked cars and stay out of the handicap slots.  

They are not meant for 30-second deliveries or any other non-handicapped reason.  You were in the wrong.
