My beloved 13 year old cat that I have had since I was little was recently diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in his lower jaw. We will do anything to make him live a happy life for as long as possible. My family really isn't ready to lose him. The tumor has just started to get at the bone in his jaw. The vet gave us the options of removing a majority of his jaw, radiation and chemotherapy using palladia.
Over that issue they also found he has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which they say puts him at high risk under any anesthetic. Other treatments I’ve seen are dynamic laser surgery and cryosurgery. We’re having a lot of difficulty figuring out what is most likely going to save him and give him the most comfort. We are willing to try ANYTHING and go ANYWHERE. He is the child of the house and is very important to all of us.
We have a consultation with Smith Ridge Veterinary Center in New York but that is in 4 days and being an aggressive cancer we want to get as much facts as soon as possible. Any professionals or people with similar experience out there, all input would help. Thank you.
