My mother in law was the underwriter of my life insurance policy. She is affiliated with Primerica so I had her open the plan. I was under the impression that it was a life insurance plan in case I died so my kids could get some money. Years later, I find out, now that we are divorced, that she made herself the owner of the policy and named herself the beneficiary!!! Without my consent!!! I know this woman now better than I did and my kids won't get a penny! What are my options? Do I need to seek legal assistance? Is what she did illegal?
Someone named themselves as the owner and beneficiary of my life insurance policy w/o my consent!!

Thank you. I am filing a complaint with the California State Insurance Commissioner about this and her practices.
Thank you! I know right? I just found this out and feel like she might want to have me killed! She never told me any of this information but made a statement when her son and I were divorcing that she would make sure I went to prison before her son ever did. Well...he is serving life now and not me. Sicko family. Definitely capable of the most evil acts. They got the money to do anything just about.
Thank you again.
But to answer your question...We paid it at first (the bank tellers allowed her to tamper with our banking accounts too!) Then when her son got into drugs (I was a stay at home mom) she took over all our bills. She has been paying it supposedly since back then. I assumed it had lapsed and ended. She was in control the whole time and made herself the owner of the policy!
