to solve the equation:
2x - 3y + 4z = 12
2x - 3(0) + 4(0) = 12
2x = 12
x = 6
The x-intercept is (6,0,0)
2x - 3y + 4z = 12
2(0) - 3y + 4(0) = 12
-3y = 12
y = -4
The y-intercept is (0,-4,0)
2x - 3y + 4z = 12
2(0) - 3(0) + 4z = 12
4z = 12
z = 3
The z-intercept is (0,0,3)
If you graphed each intercept, x, y, and z, you would form a triangle.
You have three variables, so you have to have three equations. Then you can find the set of variables that satisfy all three equations at the same time. That is why it is called a simultaneous system.
2x - 3y + 4z = 12 defines a plane like this: www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=plot+2x-3y%2B4z%3D12
A second equation would be another plane and the intersection would be a line. A third equation would be a third plane and the intersection of all three would be a single point.
You're supposed to show how you solved it. But I guess links are okay too. Good answer buddy.
My point was there is no solution. You can't find an answer when you don't know what the question is.
Someone just said the solution Jewels. There IS a solution.
Oh my God guys seriously it's pointless to argue about whether or not Jewels is right about a freaking solution. Just quit the yip yapping and agree with Jewels. Jewels is way smarter than you shuck-faces put together. So stop this arguing and shut your pie holes.
Oh grow up guys! Jewels is making a perfect statement! Just keep your tongue holes shut and let Jewels do what he/she does best!
What a pageant this turned into!
Yes, I have to definitely admit that these observations from these users are extremely laughable, bizarre, and completely absurd.
You know what? Jewels is unbelievably naïve.
Everyone is unbelievably naive J-Cohen! You included!
This is how you would solve the equation
2x - 3y + 4z = 12
2x - 3(0) + 4(0) = 12
2x = 12
x = 6
The x-intercept is (6,0,0)
2x - 3y + 4z = 12
2(0) - 3y + 4(0) = 12
-3y = 12
y = -4
The y-intercept is (0,-4,0)
2x - 3y + 4z = 12
2(0) - 3(0) + 4z = 12
4z = 12
z = 3
The z-intercept is (0,0,3)
Next time Oscar, show HOW you solved it, okay? Find a better explication for your answer okay? That way people will know what you're particularizing.
You're unbelievably naïve.

With the exception of this one, everything can be explained. And you're also unbelievably naïve.
Simplifying
2x + 3y + -4z = 12
Solving
2x + 3y + -4z = 12
Solving for variable 'x'.
Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.
Add '-3y' to each side of the equation.
2x + 3y + -3y + -4z = 12 + -3y
Combine like terms: 3y + -3y = 0
2x + 0 + -4z = 12 + -3y
2x + -4z = 12 + -3y
Add '4z' to each side of the equation.
2x + -4z + 4z = 12 + -3y + 4z
Combine like terms: -4z + 4z = 0
2x + 0 = 12 + -3y + 4z
2x = 12 + -3y + 4z
Divide each side by '2'.
x = 6 + -1.5y + 2z
Simplifying
x = 6 + -1.5y + 2z
what are you talking about Freddy? thats not the freaking answer! answer it right!!!!!!!!!!!
you are good at x and y intercept problems emily. i gratefully grant you a wish of any kind
