Before I describe this, I’m not sure if this is a stupid question. I answered my house phone when it rang and I noticed there was no notification on the tv. When I picked it up it was a pre recorded message and the hold music would fade out whenever I spoke and sometimes when I spoke it paused and asked me to hold. Is that normal for hold music to fade out when you speak in the phone? Was this a result of a threatening prank call? Again sorry for the question I know it seems stupid, it’s just that the adults I know are usually very cautious with this sort of thing and I was jus curious to know if this was all part of a scam. Thank you!
So this was probably a prank call, but how much of it was and how bad was it?

Ok the caller was all either voice recording or background music. When I picked up it told me to hold to receive an important health message. However unlike some phone calls that are apparently fake or a “threat” to your phone this call didn’t ring just once, it rang at least three times before I picked it up. The only thing the recorded message could tell me when I spoke was to please hold to receive your message or something like that. The music only got silent when I spoke and seemed to respond with the voice recording. I highly doubt this was a “threat” to my phone and I did not give any information, the most they heard was me saying hello because that’s when it paused. I’m just curious as to if there was a potential threat and how much of this applies to a normal voice recording phone call.
