Ive been smoking cigarettes for 2 years and I started off with non menthol and after a few months I quit. when I got back on it I smoked menthol. the other day, I wrnt a whole day without any cigarettes. The next day I went to smoke one and it killed my throat. This continued. It's been about 2.5 days and the cigarettes still hurt my throat. Is my throat simply rejecting the menthol? Or am I getting sick? I still have urges to smoke and when I do it hurts and then I don't want the ciggarete anymore

Quit smoking, call it a sign if you like but quit now while you've not been at it for long. Go down the pharmacy tomorrow and get some patches to help you through it but just quit. It's expensive, it's unhealthy and it's just not cool anymore. From an ex-smoker... we really are the worst but the message is true.
Wow sorry these people cannot appreciate the beauty of a cigarette. Anyways mate, I would look at the brand your smoking. For example Camels never hurt my throat; as a matter of fact John Wayne once did an ad on how Camels never caused that kind of shit, cuz ain't no movie star got time for that. It might also just be the fact that your throat is trying to heal. If it really hurts, I'd try talking to a throat doctor. Also try to reduce the intake of cigarettes. I try to keep from smoking on weekdays, but if I do, I try to smoke less on weekends. I only smoke between 1-2.5 packs a month though. It's also ok to just take a few puffs and toss a cigarette (don't feel you have to smoke the whole thing) or get an e-cig. As for the menthol, I'm pretty sure it's just for taste. Menthol is also found in things like peppermint and I think Nyquil.
It's nice to learn from someone who is an ex-smoker. :)
