I'm taking a singing class but it looks like everyone knows how to sing and they are not teaching. Help. I know how to inhale with the diaphragm and let my stomach go out. I need to know what to do next. Is singing just exhaling that air you inhaled and talking at the same time? It seems hard to do both at the same time. I feel like I blow air and nothing comes out or air comes out of my cheek but air stays in the lungs. On the other hand, I can exhale and not talk Is there a certain way to release the air to make it easy to talk and exhale at the same time if that's what singing is- my main question. Do I just exhale like normal breathing but make the exhale longer and talk at the same time to sing? Is exhaling supposed to be conscious like that, blow air and talk, a sustained exhale while simultaneously talking? If so, someone who has never sang before would not be able to sing today right? They would have to learn how to exhale and talk at the same time and make their exhale last longer?

I can't explain because there are no words. You need a coach to demonstrate. Then you will say "Oh, that!" But you won't be able to explain it either.
Thanks for your help its complicated. The person tried and he said all the exhale happens when you talk, but I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to blow air out of exhale a steady stream while talking not just holding air and talking. Is that true?
