We should ban government intervention in schools. It is not a proper subject of political machinations.
When I was in grade school I complained to the cook because the vegetables were so greasy that I could not choke them down. She said federal law required her to use a certain amount of butter, and she thought children don't like vegetables, so she put it all there. The law required so much butter because the government had a lot to get rid of, because federal law set the price of milk at an hour's wage per gallon, and the federal government had to buy all the unsold milk to keep the price up. Nobody considered whether that was good or bad for a kid's diet. That is the sort of insanity that is brought on by political control of school lunches.
Personally, I do not think there is any coherent or rational reason as to why chocolate milk should be banned. Sure, the sugar intake may be high, but for some kids, it's the only way you can get them to drink milk. Speaking from a middle school student's perspective, I've seen may of my classmates only touch their chocolate milk, and never the white milk.
