Should "weeks" in the following sentence have an apostrophe? "The winning couple will leave the island with £50,000 in six weeks' time". In other words, is "weeks" genitive?

Yes. You are saying "in the time of six weeks", so that makes it genitive. B-U-U-T ... Do we or do we not add an apostrophe to the plural? The rule is we add s to make plural, and we add apostrophe s to make genitive, so shouldn't it be "weeks's"? That is silly - nobody talks that way. So in the end it doesn't matter if you have the apostrophe or not, because there isn't any correct way to write it.
What is the plural possessive of Jones? Two families named Jones live side by side. Does that mean the property line is the Joneses's border? No, it's just the Joneses.
