I have an intel core i3 cpu 550 @ 3.30 ghz and a Geforce 315 graphics card, 6.00 gb installed RAM. What should I be looking to upgrade first?

Well, it's not a bad spec but I think your graphics card is going to be the first thing to feel the heat. It wasn't that great a card when it was new (going for cut-down versions of higher spec cards is always a gamble. I did the same and got very lucky last time, but I've had some dogs too).
Your entire system is about equivalent in that nothing stands out as really excellent or terrible. It'll probably run fine for another two years, after which the best bet is to buy an entire new system, getting a new chip, graphics card, more memory, and probably an SSD by then.
Having this kind of stats on a pc is already fast, but if you're looking for a much higher fps or frequency for games, you could upgrade your intel core i3 to i7. This kind of pc that you have is already capable of having a multiple instances of applications that can be run at the same time. But consider upgrading if your a gamer.
I am a gamer in my free time, and while I haven't had a problem thus far with any games that I have brought, the current gaming tech is starting to leave me behind. Thanks for the Answer
