Should I tell my friend that I relapsed? I'm scared cos she said she would tell if I did?

I have a lot of personal experience with what you're dealing with, so I'm pretty sure I can help. If I were in your position, I would tell the friend. If she tells someone what's going on, you can get professional help from someone who can give you good coping skills and techniques to use the next time you think you want to relapse. This same thing has happened to me before, and when my friend told someone, I never knew that it would lead to me being over eight months clean. Of course, things won't get better or change over night, so it's something you have to work hard towards. Teach yourself positive self thinking and try to use positive coping skills. Your friend is only trying to help you because this kind of stuff is serious and can lead to even more serious things. Trust me. I've been there.

I think its a good idea if you tell her, I was afraid of the exact same thing but my friend didn't force me to tell someone she just encouraged me and supported me and I found that telling an adult whether it be your parent or someone else was a sort of relief. I feared burdening my friend but I had to realise and keep telling myself that they want to help me, that if my friend was in my position I would want them to tell me.
