So I had a card with capital one. When it went to collections it had less then $700 on it. Long story short.. The debt quickly went from $700 to over $2000 very quickly. I refused to pay. It has been just over 6 years and I received a letter today saying my account has been sold to a different debt collector and I owe less than $600. The letter also states "Unless you notify this office within 30 days after receiving this notice that you dispute the validity of this debt or any portion thereof, this office will assume this debt is valid.". Should I dispute it? Wait for it to fall of my credit? Pay it?
