... I am 16 and have grown to really dislike baseball, every aspect of it in the last 3 years of playing. Cincidence or not, 3 years ago i started mountain bike and thT has been my strong passion ever since. It is mid november and the baseball season starts in febuary as well as the mountain bike race season. A recent baseball related arm injury warrants surgery and would put me out for 6 months. The reason i am not just blatently quitting is because i really do not want to quit in anything i do. I want to give it 100% but am also a stfong believer that whatever i do, it has to be something i love to do. To go along with my contridicting ideas, my dad is 'one of those' dads who played high school and college sports and is a firm believer in never giving up. I have told him i dont want to play anymore and that id rather have my surgery after the mtb race season and miss the baseball season but he insists i need to get the surgery asap, in effect losing all of my thanksgiving and 2 week winter vacation. Btw, the shoulder injury only affects throwing, everything else i do is normal.
I know, long post but any advice is verygreatly appreciated. I have never had to make a decision like this and want to make the right one. Any advice any of you wiser people on jere have that may have been through the same thing would be greatly appreciated
