When joining any branch of the military, including the seals, your physical abilities going in are less important than your willingness to: be away from your family, put in a lot of hard work for a long time, be committed to duty over yourself, AND to be physically able to handle it. Many people go into the military and aren't even close to where you are physically. So, if you really think you want to do it, do it! Your body will improve even more as you train.
You can join the Navy. You need the Navy to accept you into all of their screening tests. From what I've read, SEALS is one of the hardest Navy spec ops to get into even more so than Navy Diver which is what I'm interested in. AND there's alot of competiton. It's a good thing ur in shape, that also important. Make sure ur ASVAB scores are good to. There's a qualifying standard I'm sure. Since ur 17, I'd say join and try out for the SEALS. It's probably in your best interest to do at least some college first. Even if you don't have a degree you can still go in as a higher enlisted rank with credits. It's best to have a contingency plan IF you don't make it to SEALS. They have what's called, "NeedsoftheNavy" where they throw you in wharever they need you. Which could suck. But this is just from what I've read and heard. -Goodluck
