I have a fish tank but the fish sometimes get ill in it although I like having them for company. I was thinking of getting a garden fish pond to keep fish in as I get very sad when they die and my grandad has a pond in which they thrive. I like having my fish in my bedroom as they are good company but what should I do to to the best for them?

I suggest keeping the fish in the pond for a week and keeping them in the tank for a week if you do this you can observe which is better and if the pond is better you have helped your fish. If they still do bad in both get a new bigger tank and clean water every day/other day.
The best option would be to keep them in a tank. If they are kept outside they are an easy meal for preditors such as birds, cats, and mice. If your fish are getting sick try putting living plants in that will help the fish gather oxygen better and also see the temp. of the water. Sometimes having it too cool or too hot can effect sleeping, eating, and exercise. Also put large dark places to hide as this will help keep the fish's stress level down to a minimum. Hope this helps!
